Generic Viagra

December 24th, 2006

Generic (sildenafil citrate) contains the same active ingredients used in Pfizer Pharmaceutical’s ®.

is an oral medication for the treatment of male impotence.

Impotence (or erectile dysfunction) is defined as the inability to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient for sexual intercourse, and includes the inability to get an erection as a result of sexual stimulation or to lose your erection prior to ejaculation.

Impotence does not generally include other symptoms such as lack of libido, inability to ejaculate or the inability to achieve orgasm.

Generic works by relaxing the smooth muscles and blood vessels in the penis. This allows the blood vessels to expand and fill with blood, producing an erection.

Generic usually takes at least 30 minutes to start taking affect, and can take longer if it’s administered after a large meal or excessive alcohol intake. It can last for up to four hours, but usually ceases to work after ejaculation.

Generic is not an aphrodisiac and WILL NOT work unless you are sexually aroused.

Benefits of Generic

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) applies the same strict guidelines for manufacturing a generic drug as it does for producing a brand-name drug.

The majority of generic drugs contain the same active ingredients in the same quantities as the original. The quality, strength and performance of the generic drugs are designed to match the results of the brand-name equivalents.

The US Congressional Budget Office believes that US consumers will save an estimated $8 billion to $10 billion each year by purchasing generic prescription drugs.

The greatest benefit of generic is that it offers value for money without compromising the quality.

Precautions of Generic

Because generic contains the same active ingredients as Pfizer’s ®, the same precautions apply.

If you are taking medication that contains nitrates (including nitroglycerin) you MUST NOT take generic . Nitrates are medicines used for the treatment of angina (chest pain) and other heart conditions.

Cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure and high cholesterol are known to contribute to impotency. Many of the commonly prescribed drugs used to treat these conditions may interact with generic .

If you have an existing heart condition where sexual activity may place a strain on your heart, make sure you visit your doctor for a full health check before taking generic .

You must advise your doctor if you have experienced any of the following health problems.

  • Heart attack, angina, irregular heart beat or chest pain
  • Liver or kidney problems
  • Stroke
  • High blood pressure
  • Sickle cell anemia, leukemia or other blood disorders
  • Any disease or deformity of the penis (such as angulation or Peyronie’s disease)
  • Stomach ulcers
  • Any illness you believe may put you at risk if you take generic

Generic does not offer protection against sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV, nor does it act as a contraceptive. Protective measures should be taken to guard against these possibilities.

Generic is not intended for use by women, children, adolescents or men who don’t have an existing impotence problem.

Possible Side Effects of Generic

Like ®, generic has similar side effects, although clinical trials have concluded that there are very few side effects likely to occur. These effects have generally been mild and have not persisted for any length of time.

The most common side effects are headache, mild facial flushes and upset stomach. Other effects noted are a bluish tinge to vision, blurred vision and light sensitivity, although these are far less common.

In rare instances, men have reported an erection that lasts many hours. If your erection lasts for more than two to three hours, (this condition is called priapism) or becomes painful, you should contact your doctor immediately.
